In a dark room, white LED lights hang in a cubic grid around a central sphere constructed from triangular one-way mirror panels. The sphere’s geometry is generated by a meshing algorithm used in the finite element method. As viewers circumambulate the space around the sphere, IR sensors detect their locations and illuminate the LEDs directly between them and the central sphere. One-way mirrors appear like mirrors to the side that is more brightly illuminated than the other. Hence, viewers will never be able to see inside the sphere. They can only see their reflections, and are left to imagine the reference frame inside the sphere that looks outwards and sees all.
